Point Coupee Sunset on False River
False River isn't actually a river at all. It's actually an oxbow lake located in southeastern Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, just west of Baton Rouge. This lake was once the main channel of the Mississippi River in this area, but was cut off in about 1722 when seasonal flooding cut a shorter channel to the east. Now, this quiet lake is home to an abundance of winged visitors, fishermen, and folks that just like boating with friends and family. This spectacular sunset was taken after passing showers. It was so glorious that I found myself sitting on the dock until long after the sun melted away.
